Well, this thought rushed through my mind as I am feeling the proverbial "Super Bowl Hangover." However, my brain was churning enough to come up with a couple of reasons:

1) Its an all day event.
- I dont say this just because of the 7 1/2 hour pre-game show that Fox aired or the entire ESPN crew disciphering (spelling?) every single number and mark on the stat sheet. I say this because most people spend the morning either going to church, where the Super Bowl is the topic of most sermons, or stocking up on all the food for the game.

2) It is a holiday where your friends replace the annoying relatives.
- The Super Bowl is a reason to gather together as a group on the same day every year. I love my family, dont get me wrong, but, I would rather sit and discuss football with friends than have a conversation talking about Uncle Billy Bob's visit to the doctor five months ago.

3) Even if your favorite team isn't playing, by the end of the night, you are stressing out over one team.
- For me, going into this year's playoffs, I did not know who to pull for because once again the Panthers choked. So throughout the playoffs I watched the games to enjoy football...except when the Patriots were playing.
Eventhough they are "the team of the century" and Fox made it seem like if you didnt pull for the Patriots you were not American, they were the team you love to hate. I dont know if its because of "spygate" or they were the only team to go undefeated and wanted to trademark 19-0, seemed like I wanted them to lose and to lose bad.
So in Super Bowl XLII I wanted the underdog Giants to win, I just didnt know I wanted them to win so bad. By the end of the game the tension grew and every play was followed up with a cheer or groan. But hey, thats football.

4) You can stop/cheat on your diet/healthy eating.
- For me, I cheated horribly last night as I had the first carbonated drink in about a month, wait make that 3. Also, the whole, "dont eat alot late at night" theory was thrown out the window. But its all for a good reason right?

So to sum it all up, the Super Bowl is one game that can be enjoyed by both the everyday fan or the casual person who just wants to hangout with friends.

wear red today!

i saw this group on facebook and i thought it was pretty cool. so wear red on every friday!

http://ngc.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6783261294

Regime Change by Disciple

on my way home tonight from work i was listening to this song by Disciple. ive listen to it many times but this time, instead of singing along or going with the music, i decided to stop and listen to the words.

they really spoke out to me. Disciple references to Romans 12:2, saying, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing, perfect will."

God uses many different signs

you know, God is an awesome God. i know this may sound like a cheesy way of saying how great He is but sometimes the cheesy phrase is the best phrase there is. God has shown me a couple of things tonight.

1. He can use any event to glorify, and show Himself.

2. no matter the size of the sign, God will reveal Himself.

when i came home from church tonight, my parents were watching the 10 o'clock news and they were showing the funeral of the 6th grader that died because of injuries from the church van wreck last week. through just a one minute-segment of video, it showed how this 6th grader effected a community. not only was the kid not involved with a clique or group at school, he made sure everyone around him was loved and cared for.

but, the coolest thing was towards the end. after the coach of the rec football team said this 6th grader was sitting in heaven right now with no worries or pain, the news reporter came on and said since he was an organ donor, his organs saved the lives of 5 other people in the matter of a couple of days. i thought this was awesome because not only did the kid show God's love through his everyday life, he was able to spread joy and comfort with his own organs.

this to me really spoke out to me. this shows God's grace is everywhere and can be seen through anyone that loves Him and has Him in their heart.

i strive to have that effect on anyone i come in contact with. whether be the work place or at my home. this 6th grader from Liberty, SC has really inspired me tonight and i wanted to share it!

also i was reading a blog that spoke out to me saying to check my priorities. instead of this person getting their point across, they got His point across. seems like my priorities are way off right now.

<img made me want to start one myself. so i give all the credit to chris and hopefully i will keep posting and not be an one and done thing.
<span class="Apple-style-span" would be a cool idea to write down some of my thoughts between now and april, when i leave to go to basic training for the navy in great lakes, ill. i figured this could be my venting area and maybe for some people to post some encouraging, or not so encouraging words... we'll see.

<img width='1' height='1'
